Hot water vs. Cold Water

Oh how I love me a Hot shower, the relaxation of the hot water all over my body. It feels oh so relaxing on my muscles, but it's not great for our hair!

Cold water and hot water truly affect your hair in different ways! I always tell my clients with fashion colors (SILVER, BLUE, PURPLE, PINK, etc.) to use cold water to help keeping the cuticle closed holding their color in longer, but everyone should be using cold water at some point in the shower. The cold water closes the hair cuticle sealing in moisture after conditioning is applied, it will increases shine and helps smooth the hair.

Hot water is used to open the cuticle removing dirt, oil and build up from your hair.

Hot water also causes our hair color to fade faster, making your hair dry and brittle.

For best results, shampoo your hair with warm water opening your cuticle removing dirt, oil and build up. Than after conditioning, rinse with cold water to close that cuticle back up, locking in moisture. Remember Moisture equals shine and frizz free.

How hot do you put your water in the shower while washing your hair. Have you noticed a different using cold water at the end of your hair routine?

Til Next Time!!

XoXo,

Ali
